So I'm setting up a painting studio in the old High-Line offices (about 1500 sq. feet!) on 14th between 9th and 10th Avenues, across from Jeffrey New York. Meatpacking district. Ironically, this is a block away from a building that artists like Matthew Barney no longer have studio space. Most of them can no longer afford the neighborhood. Landmark places like "Florent" (a 24-hour French diner) are leaving, now that rents are rocketing from $6,000 a month to $50,000 a month.
This is also wonderful timing since I'm incredibly inspired right now for my current set of paintings.
Granted, this could all evaporate as soon as the offices get leased again, but that could be a day or a year from now.
Knowing People is often better than Having Money, in my experience.
