A friendly ear
You know, it never ceases to amaze me how much people need someone to just listen to them.
For instance:
The other day I took my truck to Benny's to get a much needed, thorough cleaning. So I'm sitting outside, and this man comes out and kind of stands by me.
You ever have that feeling where you just know that someone needs to talk to someone? Well, I got that feeling. I asked him which car was his, and then he told me a brief history of himself, how he's had two chevy avalanches, worked at All Star Chevy for 10 years, looked up stuff about them and knew alot about them, etc... he seemed like he really enjoyed sharing his story.
I run into people like that all the time. Sometimes it just seems like these people just need someone to hear what they want to say, and approve that what they are saying is worth something, cause I guess in a way that that means that they are worth something.
Sometimes people just need to get weight off their chest.
I'll never forget the time that a man came through the drive thru when I (shudders) worked at mcdonalds. Someone had screwed up the order, so he had to wait a bit longer. a few seconds after I told him about the mixup he starts talking to me about his daughter. He said he'd been working alot to make ends meet, and he's been setting aside money from his second job to start a fund for his daughter's future. He said he hates himself that he doesn't get to spend much time with her, but she'll thank him in the long run. So he talked about it for a while, and then his order came, he thanked me and left.
I felt sorry for him... He's just trying his hardest to provide for his family, and it really seemed to be weighing heavily on his mind and heart.
There's people like that all over the place... just longing for someone to share their stories with. I guess it could be that they just need someone who would care enough about them to listen... I'm sure it's for many reasons.
I guess everyone needs someone to listen to them... some more than others though, I suppose.
I hope everyone's doing ok w/ school and whatever else they have to do.
It's gonna go 15 rounds, but overall, I'm expecting a KO.
