Traveling, Working and Painting fun!

For a summer that was supposed to be relatively unscheduled, I find myself being thrown into plans at a regular basis.  Some of our friends from the undergrad years are visiting this weekend.  Two weeks after that I will head north to visit my sister and the kids for four or five days.  Mom asked if I would come stay with her for a week or so to do some "fix-up" work around her house.  Sarah (who also isn't working over the summer) and I discussed some extended visits yesterday, too.  I tell you, this schedule is way more fun than working! ;-)

Not that there isn't any work to be done.  I am continuing on the research project for one of our emeritus faculty that I started last summer.  It appears that she and her son plan to take the article they wrote and turn it into a book!  It's excting and interesting stuff, but it's not my story to share here.  For security's sake, of course.  In addition to the research, I am frantically (sort of)  trying to finish up my conference paper for Ag History this summer.  Along the way, I think I've discovered the flaws of my thesis.  A year later, I finally feel like I am in the place I should have been last year.  Thank you so much HC, for your lack of guidance and instruction when I needed it most.  You suck.

In addition to all the traveling fun, I've got big plans to paint a couple more rooms this summer and to re-build our deck.  Matt and Gina closed on their house last week, so she and I have been tag-teaming work on our respective houses.  Painting with another person is far less frustrating than painting by yourself.  At least that way, if you feel the urge to swear...someone is there to hear it.

Even though the wind is gusting to nearly 35 mph, I think I'm going to head out for a ride before I sit down to write today.  I could use the exercise as I'm a bit behind on my miles since vacation.  We'll see how this goes...

Oh...and allergies bite.  That is all.
