Where to begin. I'll start with the newest finished object.
Clog Monkeys!
Before felting
After felting
For: Myself (I know Lesley had the sock monkey theme going, but the red and grey clogs I knit for myself turned out too big...so these are a size medium instead of large, and fit me much better)
Yarn: Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted in red, brown, and oatmeal
Needles: US 13
The Shell That Just Won't Die
Front and Back
I am amused at how the shadow of the mannequin looks like something out of The Nightmare Before Christmas
For: A customer
Yarn: Tilli Tomas Cleopatra (beaded silk ribbon), 6 hanks
Needles: US 13
Pattern: 2 rectangles sewn together with holes left for the head, arms, and body. The customer had bought two hanks of the red and loved it, but could only special order four hanks of the brown to do anything else with it. She told me how she wanted it striped and off I went.
Baby Surprise Jacket
For: Display at Yarndogs
Yarn: Frog Tree Hand-dyed Sport Weight Alpaca, 2 hanks
Needles: US 6
Notions: Five buttons
Pattern: Elizabeth Zimmermann's
Baby Surprise Jacket. Knit in one piece, it resembles certain types of sea anemone before it's seamed into jacket form.
Of course I seamed the left side of the jacket before I thought to take a picture of it, so here's the right side for your viewing pleasure.
It made almost no sense while I was knitting it, and now that I'm done I still only have a tenuous grasp on how in the world it turned out correctly. Perhaps it's sacrilegious for me to feel this way (and stupid for me to admit it in a public forum), but I'm just not a huge fan of Zimmermann's pattern-writing style.* Good for her for creating this pattern, though. I am amazed that her brain came up with this amorphous thing that turns into a baby sweater.
And lastly, I have completed
mousecatfish's birthday present! I've even taken pictures of it! But I won't post them here! Because her birthday isn't until April! *EVIL LAUGH* (My evil laugh can even be heard across Ravelry...mwahahaha!) Somehow I get the impression that April will be here sooner than we know it, though, so expect pictures then.
* I also don't really like The Beatles, can't bring myself to slog through any of Tolkien's work, and don't get why Kaffe Fassett's designs are so popular.
