Charlotte

I learned/observed a few things in Charlotte, NC during the anniversary trip Dan took me on.

1) Downtown Charlotte appears to have more restaurants per capita than any other city I've seen. At the expense of ANYTHING else practically. Almost no retail, cleaners, etc. Restaurants, hotels, and financial buildings. Like no other city I've seen.

2) Tea here, even at nice hotels, is not as good as in England. The tea sandwiches were out of this world though. And being able to switch teas throughout the meal? Nice touch. (they also offered hot chocolate and coffee)

3) The nicer hotels charge for many things (wifi, no continental breakfast) that cheaper hotels include. The nicer hotels (at least the one we stayed at) DO have free gelato weekend afternoons, sparkling wine when you check in, a free wine and cheese social each weekend, and leave cookies in your car before you leave. Totally worth it.

4) Stop putting eggs Benedict on English muffins. No really. Try little cakes of potato instead. SOOOOOOO tasty. There is no comparison. (this was called Irish Benedict at the Irish restaurant). Seriously, just try it.

5) Truffle (the mushroom) really is that good. Dan had a filet with shaved truffle in the sauce. MMMMMM. So good.

All in all a wonderful way to celebrate 5 years as a married couple
