I wonder why it's beyond the scope of possibility that another person could have made the same or a pretty darn similar icon. *thinks* Where have i had this conversation recently?
That is the lamest fight ever. I stole an image and "made it my own" and now someone stole it from me??? I wish the icon in question was around so that someone could steal it and "make it their own" by writing snarky text in it.
And who cares about a building with the name "knitting" on the sign unless it's an LYS?
i can't even tell what in the world is going on with that icon. either way, ITS AN ICON.
people take my icons all the time and i don't get all riled up about it; hell, most of mine are from actual photos that i have taken and developed and all that. i STILL don't care. if you like them, take them!
heheh. that's kind of how i feel about it. the only time i've ever been bugged by it is when someone hotlinked to photos i took and posted and claimed that HE had taken those pictures. THAT was not cool. icons, though? take em!
i love how the icon-maker is getting all sniffy in her argument with someone, always turning to "I wouldn't expect someone who doesn't make icons to understand" get a fucking clue. It doesn't matter what you to do the picture from the movie, not your movie not your picture and the icon is not copyrighted to you.
and it's just an icon. and it's not even the one she uses regularly. I could understand if it was an icon she always used and was as such identified by it (like if it was her news is hot one, for example)... but i've never seen that icon before in my life. i would think someone who makes icons would understand that there's 50 gagillion people on teh intraweb and most of them don't give a rat's arse who made the pretty little square they'd like to use as an icon... if "your" icons are so important to you, keep them to yourself :P
I just took a look too. Because apparantly those of us who don't think she has been *egads* violated in the worst way (bad icon stealers!) don't "understand the basic principles of the int0rnets, or LJ". Riiiight.
i considered checking her journal to see if she cried about it there... and now that I have, i see she's done one up from that. she's created a new knitting community (because we need more, clearly.) and in the userinfo.. "This comm comes from my own unfounded frustration at less internet-savy knitters in other comms. People who don't understand blogs, simple LJ courtesy[..]"
heck, the whole userinfo sounds very "boohoo, nobody understands me" to me :P

Why people put so much emotion in a 100 x 100 image is beyond me. I understand all the implicit copyright issues, etc, but.... still.

Yeah, I wasn't even going to bother snarking the OP. Maybe if the sign were some funny Engrish, but.... no.

I made the mistake of popping over to her journal and reading her latest post, which is all about this drama.
It was soooooo hard not to comment.
