Maybe it's just me, but I tend to patronise yarn shops on the basis of the quality, selection and price of their yarn, and very little else. She didn't even go inside.
Before the election, we had many a heated political discussion at my LYS...it was fun and we respected everyone's opinion! The owner is conservative, but she's certainly not a blind follower. I understand the desire to shop where your political heart is, but sometimes you can miss out on meeting neat people AND on expanding your vistas.
Pissy people say pissy things no matter what side they're on. I try to avoid them, not their politics.
Why do you even need to have the same politics as your knitting buds anyway? I disagree on some political points with my HUSBAND and we've made a legally binding promise to be together for the rest of our lives, not just Saturday afternoons.
hahaha! Yes, me & hubby differ sometimes too. However me & dad differ 99.8% of the time! It was big fun at election time. Mainly we just liked antagonizing each other =D

In the US, you didn't used to have the same political politics as your political buds. But the climate in this country has become so divided, and so heated, that-- in some places-- if a place is overly conservative-- and you look overtly liberal ( have an unusual piercing, look gender inappropriate, or like a foreigner from the "wrong" country, etc.... you will get outward hostility. I live in New England-- and for awhile I had a bumper sticker that said "SUpport our troops- Bring them home" on my car and I was given the finger many many times, and several times trucks attempted to *RUn me off the Road* And --not that it should matter, I am white, middle class, dress like a student, and am generally Irish looking
