Bannination

Hey y'all,

When we say "don't stir up shit in other communities", we mean don't stir up shit in other communities. When shit stirring happens, there's generally a spike in membership requests here (yesterday, up 700% from each day the previous week or two) and then one of us mods has to track things down and ban people. Also, if you're going to ( Read more... )

I would like to the network TV station that allows "twatmuffin" on the air.

HBO?

To me, network TV means nbc, abc, cbs, and the like. Not cable networks or even so-called premium ones, like HBO. I doubt even a non-premium cable network (USA, TBS, A&E) would use a word like "twat muffin". Which seem to be the crux the claim that there was nothing wrong with the little greeting.

Yes, that's exactly what Network TV means, to me, too.

Well, no, of course not (and USA et al. would probably either bleep or "white out" the offending term).

Generalizations suck :-(

Edit: and I don't mean the OP.. I mean people saying things against LSG as a whole.

Umm, where? You'd probably be better served taking this up with the "generalizations" that are bothering you than passive-aggressively posting this comment.

Ok, just as a note, this was not meant to be passive aggressive, it was just a vent. Just all of the comments calling members idiots and "special". I have been an active member of both groups for a while, and while some members decided to trample all over K_S rules, there are some of us who love both and respect both.

I didn't really see any point in commenting on the comments and saying "No, we aren't all stupid!" sistercoyote has a point, I do think it's mutual on both ends, but there are some of us that just sit in the middle.

Edit: and this comment wasn't nearly as worded as I wanted it it be. Bah.

I've told the mods of LSG that I do not want an ongoing grudge match between the two communities, cause that would be dumb and counterproductive.

I'm hoping we can get it out of our system in this post and then leave it be.

Heh. For what it's worth, I was also appalled by "twatmuffin" and co in the knitting community.

Are you over in LSG, too?

Nope! I wasn't in on the inside joke, but did understand that it was one. I got that these two people knew and liked each other, but knitting is a public community, and I didn't feel that was appropriate language for that venue. I understand that others have differing opinions on what is appropriate, but I like to look at that community during the day, which means that my nine-year-old may be in the room. Knowing that sort of language is going to be used there means it's one more venue that is closed to me during "working hours."

That may have been good time happy fun for the two knitters having the exchange, but there are more people involved than just those two. knitting is not a private channel. Hence my appalled reaction.

Probably a stupid question, but who started it? Shitstorms rarely start themselves.

I just want to tell them to cry more and possibly grow some brain cells while they're at it.

I won't, because I don't want to get banned from here and ravelry_snark for stirring up shit. It's really tempting though.
