In case anyone is wondering what might be included in the definition of "don't be an asshole," it includes such things as completely unnecessary shout-outs.
Too bad, so sad, don't let the door hit you on the way out lwood.
That wasn't a shout-out--that was an expression of genuine concern. I've been knitting for five years, but have not much participated in online knitting communities. After reading this community for a few weeks, I was scared to post to advanced_knit at all.
Still, following Rule Three, I decided to post anyway.
I didn't expect to be kicked out for that--snarked, yes. Kicked?
Sounds assholish to me.
However, not being a moderator, my ability to say anything in response to an arbitrary decision is...hm. Lacking.
I suspect, however, for my trouble, I will get snarked, comm-eyes-only, for flouncing.
*shrug* In many years of moderating fairly fractious communities, the first offense--when I'm running it, anyhow--has tended to merit a warning or temporary loss of posting privileges.
Not "a kick to the curb within fifteen minutes", complete with public post that would appear to violate the comm's own rules on assholish behavior.
Again: I am not trying to flounce. I am responding to you.
A repeated rule is to not bring the snark outside of the community, and not to talk about the community. It is expected that members read and are familiar with these rules before joining and posting. The post is public to show everyone that the community does not tolerate when people do not follow the clear rules, and also to let the banned person know that they are infact banned and the post that led up to it.
I was going to suggest you edit your post before I would accept it, but figured that if you got snarked, you asked for it. Had you not mentioned the community, I doubt anyone would've said anything negative whatsoever. The post didn't suck (which is why it got approved).

I rather liked the knitting review posts, though--kept me from actually having to join it.

I would edit the post, but it's obviously irrelevant.

I lack the resources and information to weigh in on the potential amount of bitch tits, however.
