Help! Seaming or Sewing a Burridge Lake Afghan

Jun 28, 2008 10:07

Hi everyone!

I am right at the tail-end of knitting a Burridge Lake Afghan and I've run into a snag (apologies for the Ravelry link - this used to be a Magknits pattern but afaik it is only available through Ravelry now).

The pattern calls for two runners - a header and a footer knit in a braid pattern. Like the rest of the blanket, these pieces have slipped-stitch edges. I am now trying to seam one of these runners onto the short end of my blanket, and it's a total mess. I have never seamed an irregular pattern before, let alone to a piece with a slipped-edge. I don't know how to get my runner to line up to the pattern. I have tried seaming using the "ladders" deeper in to the runner than the slipped edge (if that makes sense) - because if I use the slipped edge as the selvedge edge the "ladders" come much less frequently, and the runner becomes bunched. But even so, my runner seems to be getting bunched anyway...

Also, I have no idea how to seam a pattern like, say, the Trinity stitch (i.e. popcorn stitch, berry stitch).

Any advice?

Thank you!
