Substituting Yarn for Emerald Seas

Aug 14, 2007 23:47

I think I'm in love with Knitty's Emerald Seas, but unfortunately I am not wealthy and can't afford the superposh 100% silk yarn that the pattern calls for. I've done a little snooping and have found that apparently cotton might be an appropriate substitution, but I'm not sure. The silk yarns that I've found in my price range also seem to come exclusively in hideous colors, which is also making this more difficult.

Here's my substitution candidates:

Knitpicks Shine Worsted in terra cotta
Elann.com Den-M-Nit in dark indigo
Loop Yarns Organic Cotton in nut or their Dyed Cotton Yarn in Shrimp, Tomato, Fern, or Indigo.

Which of these yarns looks appropriate? I know that the last two aren't the cheapest things in the world, but they are also from my fabulous LYS around the corner. If you can suggest another yarn, it would be best if it came in some color similar to the ones I apparently like, but that's a secondary concern.
