Substitute for Elle Stretch DK?
I finally picked up the fall KnitScene last week and I cannot tell you how much I am in love with the Breton girl sweater! I've never heard of the recommended yarn though, the Elle Stretch DK (90% acrylic, 10% stretch polyester)...it doesn't sound like something I would normally want to knit an entire sweater out of, but I like the texture it seems to have on the pattern photo and I like the idea of it being stretchy...I'd want this as a summer sweater so I wouldn't want to make it in wool and I don't like knitting with cotton.
I can't find this particular yarn online for sale many places, can anyone recommend a substitute that would behave similarly? The gauge is 25 sts and 37 rows = 4" in St st with size 5s. I am not sure exactly how much stretch the 10% "stretch polyester" would lend to it, so not sure if something like a Cascade Fixation would be unsuitable? (I've never worked with Fixation so I am not sure how much stretch is in that either...also not sure I could get gauge if it's normally sold as a sock yarn...)
