A question

Ok, I'm starting to think about post-Christmas knitting and it occurred to me that my grandfather will be turning 80 in January and I should make him something he'll love. The thing that comes to mind is cowboy boots... he LOVES cowboy boots, so I was thinking if I could come up with a knitted version he could wear as slippers that might be just ( Read more... )

Maybe knit something like Fuzzyfeet, extend the cuff, and then once you've felted them cut the top into the shape of the top of a cowboy boot and sew/needle-felt on the embroidery they normally have? Fuzzyfeet look as if they have a slight heel (I mean really slight, half a cm or so) when knitted up, which I thought looked daft but works for this...

I just made something like that. I have an old bootie my great grandmother made and I was trying to estimate her pattern. I came close by counting her stitches and using two other patterns for ideas on how she did it all. You could probably follow the foot shape and just make the cuff longer to approximate cowboy boots.
