So I'm not sure what's going on at Knit Picks...but I felt like I needed to share my most recent experience with their customer service.
I bought several packages of their blocking pins (both the T-pins and the others) and here's the blurb from their website on the T-pin page:
"Blocking your finished project infinitely improves its appearance. These nickel-plated steel T pins are rust resistant and 1.5" long. Wet block that lace shawl with a scalloped edge with no worries! Each box contains 60 T pins."
I will concede that it does say "rust resistant", HOWEVER it also says - "Wet block that lace shawl..." Imagine my surprise when I wet (damp) blocked three projects only to have them ALL ruined with rust stains. And my items were not sopping wet - they were pressed between towels first and were blocked damp *and* set in a room with a dehumidifier. Overnight, every single pin rusted (used both kinds, btw) and left stains on my projects. So I called KP and the first person I got said, "Well, there's nothing we can do - it says right on the website that they are rust RESISTANT. Sorry!" And that was it. I called the following day after finding the blurb up there and they only refunded the cost of the pins - NOT all the yarn (which I had bought from them) that was ruined. :(
I'm beyond disappointed. Hours and hours of work is now stained and unfit to give as gifts (shawls). And most of all, I'm seriously disappointed in KP. I called them about 18 months ago when some yarn I ordered arrived absolutely filthy (like it had been dropped on a dirty warehouse floor and kicked around for a while) and they replaced the order, no questions asked. Maybe I'm not being fair, but I'm pretty upset that they didn't offer to at least replace *part* of the yarn. For all the time I spent knitting and pinning the projects, it seems like that's the least they could do.
So...anyone know where to get rust proof blocking pins?!
