My parents have been a huge help to me this year - I moved across an ocean and couldn't have done it without them. So I figured a huge Christmas present was in order. I decided on
this blanket (PDF!) except at a larger gauge to make it less baby blanket sized and more throw sized. My mom also goes crazy over wool because she claims she can't care for it even if I send her a ball band. Eyeroll! So I decided at the store on Patons Trentino Chunky, which is 90% Acrylic and 10% Wool. I wept on the way to the register, passing by the Rowan and Debbie Bliss. (And then I went back and comforted myself with the makings of a sweater because it is just so nice to be in Rowan's native country, ha!) Anyway, pictures:
Stupid lowlight. It's hard to take photos when you get home at two, your blanket is done drying at three and it gets too dark for decent indoor photography at three-thirty. I s'pose I could've just waited until today, but what fun is that? It needs to be shipped today anyway. But yay! I am excited. It's the biggest project I've ever done, even if it was pretty simple (the bed is a double, so you get an idea of size). I also took close up photos but they turned out horrible. You can see on the second band from the bottom that I tried a new M1 - except I forgot to twist the stitches so it created little holes. I decided not to darn over them because it's not completely noticeable and because my mister said they're just like knots in tree bark - sure dear, whatever you say.
I hope they love it. I'm going to add a little embroidered heart with '2010' to the lower right hand corner, I think. Just in red or some such. If I can find some sock or lace weight yarn in that color in my stash somewhere. If not? Well, I'm the only one in the family who knits and I have the pictures to prove it was 2010, so.
Thanks for looking! If I left anything out just ask.
