Denver did end up being fun (and oh the pain we dodged by not being in Atlanta this year.) The 16th Street shuttle in Denver is really fabulous for a convention district; shuttle buses running every five minutes and stopping every block. I've heard for years about The Tattered Cover, Denver's legendary bookstore, and I got to spend a very fun couple of hours in the LoDo store late yesterday afternoon. An old building filled with books, a coffee bar, and lots of old armchairs and small tables tucked here and there.
My friend S. and I fit in a visit to The Lamb Shoppe, which is a yarn store and coffee bar (why yes, there's a theme). Other than that, it was pretty much all economics all the time, interesting to me and to fellow observers of economists in their natural habitat, not so interesting to ordinary normal people.
I very much regret not getting a good photo of a diorama on display at a branch of Rocky Mountain Chocolate: Helm's Deep in Chocolate! Gummy bears for the elves/Rohirrim and chocolate covered gummy bears for the uruk-hai, mountains of chocolate and the walls of Helm's Deep built out of caramels
Next up is waiting for word from Mom tomorrow; Sue's going in for her second surgery in the morning. We'll all be happier when that's done.
