Knit for Breast Cancer
My secret pal sent me the link to this wonderful group, thinking that maybe if I posted here I would get more people to help out with this idea that I have.
A PLEA TO ALL KNITTERS
My cousin's grandmother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer for the SECOND TIME in her life. They're not sure she'll get over it this time, but she'll definitely be trying. She's a wonderful woman who has crocheted many scarves and afghans for many women's shelters all through her adult life. She's an amazing woman and while she was showered with gifts like flowers last time she was diagnosed, she's not getting much this time.
So i propose this: I know that she would be touched if people made her things, sent her cards or small care packages. I know so many knitters who are kind of heart and I just think that if the blogging knitting community became active in sending kind greetings or small things that it would make dealing with and hopefully getting through this much easier for her.
Hats, shawls, leg and arm warmers, sweaters ... gloves, scarves. Anything you can think of. She's been struggling with being cold a lot, and even with the coming summer, she'll likely be cold in her home and I don't know how much she'll get out. Just a nice card would be wonderful of you. Small care packages with candy or other treats. Anything.
So I am going to say that if you're interested, please e-mail me at dreamrains@hotmail.com, and let me know so that I can send you a small list of colors , candies, flavors, etc. that she likes and her address. I hope you all spread this around by plugging it in your blogs or telling a friend, and that it goes to all the knitters and crocheters in the blogging community. Thank you, and oceans of love.
