Great views and sore thighs

Yesterday marydotmusic called me up in the afternoon asking if I wanted to go hiking. Seeing as I am always up for a hike, especially on lovely, sunny days like yesterday, I decided to take her up on the offer.

We drove out to East Sooke park, about an hours drive from town & hiked up mount McGuire. The going up took about 1 hour, and we decided to take another route back. It just looked a *little* longer from the map. Well it took about 3 hours to get back to the car. I'd have to say it was one of my longer hikes I've ever been on, and I am decidedly sore today, but it was gorgeous. I love getting out into the rainforest. It's one of the perks of living on the West Coast. Here is a little polaroid album of our fun, and the many great views :-)

Typical deciduous rainforest scene.

A cute little false morrel. *dont eat it!*

More random fungi, this one was really little.

This little guy has star-like patterns on it's hood, making it look like it's made of lace.

Some little flowers.

This one looks like a star.

On our way back we found this abandoned copper mine. Dare you to go in!

We met some fellow hikers & tried to convince them to go in. They were total spoil sports.

Then our trail met up with Coast Trail, and we got some lovely coastal views.

We found this cool gnarly tree. It looks like a bonsai doesn't it?

And some cool upturned tree roots.

The view of the car was also beautiful :-P
Thanks for the fun Mary!
