Lester stood at his window, watching the fireworks light up the night sky. He should have been there, hob-nobbing with his colleagues. One in particular. Instead he was stuck here, working long into the night on a report for the bloody minister.
He reluctantly returned to his laptop, working diligently, until a loud bang sounded just outside his window. A squeak later and Lester found himself with a lapful of frightened Diictodon.
Calming them down and letting them curl up beside him, Lester’s lip twitched when he glanced at the screen, they’d made more sense than the minister ever did.
