The man sat all alone in the pub, ignored by everyone and Helen smiled. From reports, Leek was as isolated at the ARC as he was in this pub. Belittled at every turn, especially by Lester, although why Leek would want to emulate that man... Helen shook her head, musing was pointless.

She smiled and took a seat opposite Leek, making sure she could see the exits. A little manipulation, a little feigned sympathy and he'd be putty in her hand. Eager to help her in revenge for all the slights he'd suffered at the hands of his so-called colleagues.

Leek slipped unseen into the flat, stopping before Lester as he perusing paperwork. “You were right.”

“I always am,” Lester agreed, leaning back in his chair. “Are you absolutely sure she fell for it?”

“Completely. You should have seen her trying to conceal her glee that she'd 'won me over'. Bloody amateur.”

“Excellent,” Lester's grin died before he asked, “Are you sure you'll be OK following this through. With the entire ARC despising you?”

Leek heard Lester's unspoken 'with me pretending to despise you' and kissed him, hard. “Perfectly, James.” And he would be with James to come home to.
