Do you ever get wrapped up in your head, thinking about idioeconomics? (If I may use such a term, which might have an ill-formed prefix. Discuss lightly.) Just now I was showering at my parents' house using my travel shampoo. It came from a Ramada, possibly
the one in Hazleton, PA. It appears that my stash will run out soon. I wondered about my decision to take hotel shampoo in my toiletries. Do business travelers (or others) who almost exclusively stay at hotels not bother to carry their own small containers of liquids & gels, knowing that certain ones will be provided? I mostly stay at friends' places, where I could also just borrow what I need, but there's comfort in having "my own stuff" - which isn't even really my own, given that I snagged it from a Ramada. The one thing Oprah has ever conveyed to me that's stuck is that hotel toiletries are great to take home. You then have a bunch stashed for house guests. Brilliant! But I don't do it. I just like the idea. On it being "my own stuff": it's not like the shampoo (or even my Target-purchased 99-cent trial-sized body wash, really) matches my usual at-home shampoo. Isn't that bad for me? Wouldn't most of my sources of health/beauty wisdom advise against switching up formulas, especially when traveling & my beautiful healthy body is already under stress? I assume so, but can't be bothered to find out. So yes. Do I make my packing & security clearing easier by not packing any toiletries, thereby banking on obtaining that which I need at my destination? Do I pack whatever's cheap, convenient, and small? (YOUR MOM) Do I continue to rely on my infrequent hotel stays as my source of travel toiletries? Is my mind really occupied with this frivolous first-world concern? Am I so ridiculous as to spend 20 minutes typing about it on my laptop computer, recording my thoughts for all the world to see?
Yes.
How often do you write blog entries while you shower?
Now I need to go back and add the
tsa tag to old entries. I didn't have it before today, surprisingly. Also new:
vanity and
blogging. I will not be adding an Oprah tag.
It's nearly time to head back to Rochester. Before I leave, I will fill the iPod with Snoop Dogg's classic Doggystyle album and an ep or two
of This American Life. PFS & I got the final slices of the night at Aniello's. Which is good because they're closed today. Which is bad because I wanted to take a few back with me. Dommage.
