What?

I had a dream that, in a fit of poor impulse control, I put snakes and eels and gross sea creatures into Facebook's indoor pool. Then I felt bad, so I put in a lot of chemicals to kill them. Then we had to drain the pool to rid it of chemicals and beasties ( Read more... )

I think you should put more beasties into Facebook's indoor pool. I feel like they've gotten too big and are trying to take over everything. Pretty soon, your Facebook username will get you access to your bank accounts, and then...

Does anyone even read LJ anymore? Ain't nobody here.

Phew! You're the perfect audience for the question, though... What do you feel like you don't hear about via Twitter & Facebook?

The in-depth ramblings. Twitter and Facebook are limited in that there are only so many characters a tweet/post can contain. FB has notes, of course, but they are not designed to be used as a journal.

I also like that you can link to previous entries. Every now and then I'll write something, and think of something I wrote years ago that somehow relates. It's fun to see how things have changed over the years . . . or stayed the same.

I like reading all about your escapades. It's one thing to hear you're going to be in Rochester, or that (in the case of Hipsters and Clogs) you saw something funny one day; it's quite another to get a deeper glimpse into your mind wherein you actually write about your thought process, or a great thing on your trip, or just how much you like sandwiches. I think Twitter and Facebook are great for what they are, but I think I'd miss LJ updates if you stopped them altogether.
