People were doing lots of decade retrospective things. I'll try to make mine brief. I graduated from high school, went off to Hopkins, where I met fantastic people, took some classes, and lived in 2 dorm rooms + 1 apartment. I also inhabited a few friends' houses for a few weeks at a time as needed. Also, I interned at Corning, Inc. for Summer 2001 in the IT department of their Science & Technology division. When college ended, I hung around for a few weeks to tie up loose ends then left for Corning. (Note: The Dixon daughter referred to almost definitely went to CTY with many of us, those of you whom I know through that. This is something I figured out after sorting through boxes of high school-era material over break.) I eventually found a place on Averill with Crimmins, where I lived for 2 years. Grad school ensued. Then I moved to the Rossiter house with Doug, Meg, prudemermaid, and Sammy the cat. More grad school ensued. Also some antics. In May 2008, I moved into my very own first very place very. The books are partially still color coded, but I'm finally in the process of undoing them into Library of Congress order which is kind of a pain.

During the 00s, I earned 1 diploma & 2 degrees. I owned 2 digital cameras, 2 DVD players, 3 iPods, 2 cars, 5ish cell phones (Panda, never forget!), 3 TVs, and signed leases on 4 homes.

Since August or so, I've gotten more & more into craft beer and the local scene surrounding it, which is an interesting way to make friends with grownups. I kept a journal of what I was tasting, through part of the fall. It's kind of a long list. Are people interested in reading that? Some have notes attached. Some don't.

Over Christmas, I made food for the family & friends a few times. For Christmas dinner, I made gougeres with chives and stuffed dates. Dates, mind you, that I stuffed with slivered almonds or manchego and wrapped with bacon. For a Boxing Day dessert party, I made a gingerbread apple upside-down cake from Smitten Kitchen. Later in the break, I made a "Busy Day Cake" and threw a chocolate ganache on it.

Voila. Life as I know it.
