[There's a brief pause before the audio turns on, and as usual, he sounds pretty matter-of-fact, if not indifferent.]

Now that that's over:

How many of you happy people aren't actually natives?

Things aren't adding up.

If this really is Gotham, it's probably not the same one people from that universe are from.

Hm. Other than the explosives and tourists, what's out of place for the city?

Issues with time.

There was a kid here a while ago in his teens. Last time I saw him, he was in his twenties. He's just one of the Gothamites here who seems to be from a different point in our world's timeline.

There are also mass hallucinations every so often. No one knows why.

I understand the multiverse folding in on itself can have that effect.

Except the hallucinations. Though anyone in a city like this probably knows the signs of your standard Evil Villain Plot.

Personal experience?

It's been speculated that the one responsible is the Scarecrow, but given the scope, it seems unlikely. It's probably related to the chips in our heads, though again, that's just speculation.

It'd be too easy to just have it be something we could shoot. I'm going to take a stab and say it's also too much to ask for implanting chips to be the normal MO of someone else we could easily find.

Alternate dimensions are nothing new. Getting personally pulled through one without meaning to is.

If it was, I'd have shot the one responsible a while ago. As it is, on top of the problems already mentioned, Gotham itself is as charming as ever. The clown's been on the loose, and it seems like there's another ominous asshole type running around here now.

Sounds like you have your fair share of capes, then.

Who doesn't these days? Turn your back and there's a new teen in a mask trying to save the world, along with all the collateral damage that goes with it.

When did all this nonsense start on this side?

Some of the people who've cropped up here don't seem to have them. There are plenty of kiddie capes on this side, even though most aren't here.

January.

[A pause]

Hm. Well, time is relative.

What group is working to repair it?

Seems to be.

The Bat and a few others. The former is the most reliable and has the best intentions.

Well, you know where good intentions lead. Regardless, that's something, even if it raises the question of what your motives must be, if they don't qualify as 'the best.'

Which is why when I say he has the 'best intentions', what I mean is he's less likely to screw the rest of us over on purpose.

I don't pretend to be a paragon of virtue. That's a cape's game, not mine.

That's a line I haven't heard in a while.

Alright, I'll bite. Is there a game plan, or every man for himself at the moment? I hate to repeat work that's already been done if not required.

There's three people I can think of who seem to be actively working on this: The Bat, the Riddler, and someone called Wesker.

Whatever it is they've found hasn't been publicly shared beyond the obvious - that there are chips in the back of our heads that explode when we leave. The Bat was missing for nearly a month so I'm not sure what kind of progress he's made since then or before, but as I said before, he's the best bet since he's the least likely to intentionally screw the rest of us over. This is also his city so he has the most resources of any of them.

You give him a reason to work with you, and he'll probably cut a deal.
