Aha! (open)

Molly has taken to poking around the Mansion, because as long as she's here, she figures she may as well. And, to her great joy, she found a half-used bottle of pink hair dye, and a quarter-used bottle of blue, in an abandoned bedroom. It had been way too long, in her opinion, that she'd been her natural color, so she promptly rectified the fact ( Read more... )

Did somebody say 'lecture'? Harry hears familiar footsteps down the hallway and pokes his head out of his room. "Ah, I thought I heard the pitterpatter of combat boots." The sight of the freshly died hair makes him blink, and he sighs. "Well shoot, I was getting used to the regular old Molly hair. But I guess it was inevitable."

"You have something against pink?"

"I was assaulted by the Energizer Bunny as a child. Ever since then, the sight of pink makes me shiver and I start twitching if I have to look at it too long."

"Twitching, huh?"

"Oh absolutely. I can feel the spasms starting up right now." He rolls his eyes a little and leans against the doorway. "So how's your friend? The one you didn't use magic on to tell that something was wrong."

Typist: By the way, I totally adore her new PB. So perfect. And also my friend informed me of happenings in Dead Beat (I think?) involving Molly and a pitcher of ice water. Yikes, I apologize on behalf of Harry. And bookstores don't seem to like him, I can't find Dead Beat or Proven Guilty. But I'm looking!

"Um. I actually haven't seen him again yet... I was going to go look for him tomorrow and check, but I assume his sister would have found me if something went wrong."

T: Thank you! I like her as well. And... yeah. It probably needed to be done, but still. Also, boo! No good. I just started Butcher's other series, Codex Alexa, and had a devil of a time tracking down book two.

"That's good. Keep me updated, right? Let me know if you need me to step in."

Harry opens the door a little wider and nods for her to come in. "Come on, let's talk. I promise I won't go into a big schpeal or anything, but I do want to talk a little."

Typist: Sorry, beginning of school craziness. I found the rest of them, in this teeny tiny town where my college is. How funny XD Also, the graphic novel! Which rocks my socks off.

"Okay. Sure." She goes in. "Here comes the Spanish Inquisition..." she mutters under her breath.

T: No worries! And heeee, I love the graphic novel.

He points to the couch, gesturing for her to sit, choosing to cross his arms over his chest and Loom, for this particular talk. "I'm not angry, first off. But I'm not entirely happy about this. I know the guy could have been in trouble, and you just wanted to help, but that's what gets you in trouble. Right?"

She doesn't sit, not just yet. "I know, Harry. I know you're from earlier, but trying to help... it's what almost got me killed by the White Council.

Harry winces and nods. "I've -- been updated." He won't tell her that he found some interesting books in the library, unless she sees fit to ask. "That's why I'm so worried. I don't want it to happen again -- not if I'm here to stop it this time."

She crosses her arms and looks away. "I'm not an idiot, Harry. I know you still think I'm six, you've made that clear enough, but I didn't do it lightly. I know I can't unsee what I Saw. You've taught me that much."

He relaxes a little, uncrossing his arms and laying a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I just worry about you. Especially with your dad not here, you know? And I know you're a big girl, but you're also my responsibility. I just want to keep you safe."

She shakes her head. "My Dad isn't hovering over my shoulder every minute, even at home."

"I give you plenty of space!" he retorts, pointing an annoyed finger at her. "I let you do your -- poker thing with your knights, even if I think it's a totally bad idea for you to be in a room with a bunch of burly men. Especially strip poker. But no, I don't say a word, because you're all grown up and you can handle yourself. But when it comes to magic, Molly, I'm still your superior. I still know a hell of a lot more than you do and I know exactly where you are right now because I've been there. I know you think you can do anything, but you can't. Everyone has limitations, even me. I don't want you pushing yourself and regretting it later, got it?"

Typist: I -- wow. I apologize. That got longer than I meant XD

"So instead of letting me learn my limits, you're just going to freak out every time I do the smallest thing? All I did was something you already taught me, not that you remember, unless you got updated on that too. I'm not pretending to know more than you. But I can't pretend to know absolutely nothing either. Unless you want me to just squash my gift until it goes away. Or you're afraid of me getting you killed."
