So today was crunch day in as far as seeing how far my career with the company will go.
Apart from the "Development Day" with my RBM and the rest of the district in which I learnt nothing. Everything he spoke about I had covered in previous courses so was in reality a waste of my day. Then following the meeting the chance to have a 1 to 1. So naturally I used this opportunity to discuss, after 6 years as an Assistant Manager, 2 years following the completion of my CRMC, where would I be in 6 to 8 months time.
A sensible question? Oh no, my RBM basically couldn't see me progressing due to the state of the pub kitchen - which was a dump to begin with and following a poor Environmental Health report - well, all he mentioned was the floor, doors and steps - all of which were not in the kitchen. So because of this, he is not prepared to give me a chance to run my own pub. In fact, so much so that he even said "In 12 - 18 months I can see you applying for pubs" - note applying, not running.
He is coming down on Friday to see if things have improved in the kitchen and I can see next week that he will be receiving two letters of resignation in the post. Mine and my managers.
