I feel like I lost a weekend...
Type O Negative kicked ass again. They played "Christian Woman" this time. Didn't seem as honest an encore as "Unsuccessfully Coping with the Natural Beauty of Infidelity" two years ago, but was fun for different reasons. And their version of "N.I.B." was badass.
Actually, with one exception, all the openers were enjoyable. Gotta say, though, as much as Seventh Void also kicked ass, Kenny looked pretty beat between sets. Still, glad I went.
I've seen one of the local bands before, and they rather sucked, as I recall. This time around, though, they were actually pretty good. And they seemed like decent guys (and girl). Maybe I was just in a more receptive mood, having drank a little more and it being Halloween and all, or maybe they slowed down their tempo a bit, focused on timing, and mixed the keyboards in heavier. Who knows?
There was also a pirate band. Didn't catch their name. One of their songs was seriously channeling Venom, though. It was interesting.
The one disappointment of the night was that the costume contest contained no flashing. Not like that would have been the high point or anything, but I was looking forward to it. I don't see anything wrong with that.
