King Kong reviewed

188 minutes is a long time to sit through by recent movie length standards. But King Kong was really Peter Jackson's masterpiece, and he really did lived up to his epic standards. This movie really made Jurassic Park puny and Indiana Jones looked silly. The fighting scenes between Kong and the creatures of 'discomfort' was "WOW"... u have to give it to the CGI team for the great storyboarding... hmmm Jackson's attention to every little detail can be seen right from the beginning where he recreated the whole New York City in 1933. Amazing detail and authenticity!
I must also say that this has been the most successful attempt of characterising the ape as a creature with very animal and humanistic traits at the same time. JAckson also, like in LOTR, mirrored the self-destructive human traits such as greed, selfishness in some of the characters of the show, and made us think about our very survival, and what we are and where we (as in the human civilisation) are heading, should human ills dominate. His signature slow-motion capture of pivotal "going against human conscience" moments was evident in one scene.
I guess why Jackson's movies connected with so many, is that fact that he shows every character in the movie, regardless of good or bad roles - their evil and their good sides. In other words, he showed the very human side of every character, and I guess we could all identify ourselves with different characters, at different times.
Another soulful movie to his credit. He scored despite certain script loopholes and an unconvincing last liner by Jack Black - "The beauty killed the beast".
