Socialist. Whatever.

I love the GOP charges of Obama's "socialism". Good God, people. Seriously? Are we back to campaigning for Eisenhower and dodging McCarthy? How many times do we have to go through this meat grinder before we realize that nothing is as simple as yelling "Communist!" as loud as you possibly can?

I've been trying to keep quiet about my support for Obama, primarily because I was very much a Clinton supporter and, frankly, would prefer to see her with the nom. I was smart enough to say to anyone that would listen that if Clinton didn't wind up with the nomination, I'd support Obama, but I still feel kinda squicky about being loud and vocal for him. I don't do hypocrisy well.

Despite this, I've decided that this race should be sealed and shut. McCain and Palin are ... more of the same. Frankly, Palin scares the living crap out of me. And McCain - while I respect certain aspects of his campaign - his tactics have completely alienated him. He knew going in to this thing that he had to be careful with his attacks. He hasn't been. We're in uncharted territory here, fella; you know better than to be reckless with what you say to the American public. Obama is NOT socialist. The bailout plan is more socialist than Obama is.

Ugh. Infantile tactics don't work well on well-prepared candidates, and if there was ever a more prepared candidate (who appears to have surrounded himself with more experienced people than himself, which, really, was the smartest move he could make), it's Barack Obama.

politics, obama
