This is the morning report ....!

Oct 06, 2008 07:15

Now that my commute is ridiculously long, I get to work almost an hour before I need to be. Somehow this makes me more motivated to work. I'm ... not sure how getting up earlier and working longer can pull that off, but it does.

The school I coach at hosted the state dance/drill coaches conference this weekend. so I got no sleep and worked entirely too hard. On top of setting up, tearing down and attending the conference, I was asked to teach a session on teaching and motivating dancers to turn properly. Which, you know, was kind of cool - I was the youngest presenter there (though that's nothing new; I seem to be the youngest to do a bunch of crap lately) and it's a good feeling to be asked for your resume and for someone to think you're qualified enough to teach other teachers how to teach. But I had minor panic attacks getting the session ready and was ready to call in sick on Saturday to get out of it. Also got my CPR/First Aid junk in order. Booyah.

I finally made a damned decision about which song I'm going to use for my team's contemporary routine this year - Charlotte Martin's "The Dance". I know it's a SYTYCD song, but when I chose it initially, I didn't know it was! I totally missed that week, I swear. I've been going back and forth and all I know is that I love it and can do miracles with it, so I'm going with it. Screw SYTYCD. Watch me make art. :)

Boss #1 told Boss #2 that I'm leaving in late December and Boss #2 took me into his office to talk with me about it about a half-hour before we closed on Friday. He was actually very considerate and sweet. He asked me what graduate school I was attending, which program exactly - the duration, credentials, etc - and then, once he heard those answers, which subjects I want to teach at what level. Then, after we discussed that, he asked for a date and a letter of resignation early so he could get the ball rolling on hiring a replacement.

And THAT WAS IT.

No yelling, no accusing me of not upholding my promise to stay for five-six years, nothing.

This means my List of Things to Do in Order to Change My Life is slowly getting shorter. Check this out.

1.) Tell family The Plan.
2.) Tell Roommate The Plan.
3.) Tell Boss #1 The Plan.
4.) Get Roommate to sign off on moving and breaking the lease.
5.) Move home.
6.) Tell Boss #2.
7.) Apply.
8.) Get accepted.
9.) Quit job.
10.) Take Tests.
11.) Find interim job.
12.) Get financial crap straightened out.
13.) Start classes in June OMG.

Six out of thirteen in three months isn't half-bad, I don't think.

I ... hope. :D
