On Creation

"Life is not about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself."
-George Bernard Shaw

The only reason to create anything is because you love it enough to see it exist. Charles Dickens put this well: "The difference between construction and creation is this: that a thing constructed can oly be loved after it is constructed; but a thing created is loved before it exists."

The purpose of life, my friends, is to create. To love something so much that you find a burning need to see it created. It is this that brings passion to our eyes and tongues. It is this that brings us the light we yearn for.

I wonder how many people go out to find themselves, and simply get lost. Imagine, and become! Create. Do what you will, but find your place to give something to the earth that is truly yours.

"All great things are done for their own sake."
-Robert Frost

"God left the world unfinished; the pictures unpainted, the songs unsung, and the problems unsolved, that man might know the joys of creation."
-Thomas S. Monson

Creation is the surest path to self-discovery, and the greatest legacy we can leave as mortals. It is, perhaps more than all other attributes, the thing that makes God God. It is one of the greatest ways we may emulate him.

"Is it not written in your law… Ye are gods?" (John 10:34; see Psalms 82:6)
