Last week had some mixed news. I heard some awful news about a friend, but it did prompt me to get in touch with him again. We discovered that Malselene had never been clubbing, so took her to The Calling and discovered that she is a shockingly good dancer.
Sunday and Monday also saw us at the first re-enactment show of the year, at Hedingham Castle. There was a moderate amount of fun, but the main value for me was testing armour options for Empire next year. I'm trying to examine what kinds of armour are likely to be comfortable and practical for extended wear. Preferably while still looking cool and offering effective protection.
While doing this I kept having an urge to try and write some notes on various things, as a helpful primer for people new to wearing steel plate. Things like how to make it comfortable, preventative maintenance, design options etc. Whether this gets off the ground may depend on how much enthusiasm I can muster and whether it looks actually useful.
