Double Wow

"It’s deja vu all over again - once again, CBS won Friday night with the help of Moonlight. Fast overnight ratings indicate that approximately 8.56 million viewers tuned in to Moonlight, a gain of about 750,000 from last week and putting it just a smidge behind Women’s Murder Club for a second place ranking in the timeslot. However, Moonlight was number one in the coveted 18-49 demographic for the fourth week this season (out of five weeks)."

::Thumbs nose at those who have given Moonlight bad reviews since day 1::

Wow. Both Moonlight and Blood Ties thrilled me last night.

I'd seen the preview clip of Moonlight where Beth waves her wrist at Mick and says "I fed you!" so I was anticipating his reply to her demand for him to acknowledge that "something" happened when he fed from her (Fever episode). It played out better than I had hoped.

I was glad to learn that Beth and Josh are not actually living together. And while I feel sorry for Josh, I was glad they didn't make him blind and deaf to the growing attraction/feelings between Mick and Beth. Josh confronted Beth about it, too, which I think is quite realistic. I don't think he's ready to give up and hand Beth over to Mick, at least I hope not. I think doing away with his character this soon is just a little to quick. Like many others, I like that they're not drawing out Mick and Beth's relationship like so many other shows do, but then again, I don't want it to move too fast, either. If I have any complaints, its that Beth seems a bit too eager to forget Josh and take on Mick LOL. But hey, who can blame her? Heheh.

The kisses at the end were completely unexpected! My daughter rolled her eyes at me and ordered me to stop squealing LOL. I couldn't help it :G: I agree with those who are glad it didn't take a year for them to kiss.

Blood Ties was awesome. Sure the "Groundhog Day" device has been used before, and not just in the movie Groundhog Day, but Blood Ties carried it off quite well. With each repeat, Vicki becomes more and more frantically determined to get it right. When Mike was shot, her grief nearly broke my heart...and it obviously got to Henry, since he did as she begged and opened the box, even knowing what would happen.

The look on Henry's face was also heartbreaking, especially when he voices the realization that Vicki would die for Mike. It's like he finally realizes that Vicki really does love Mike. I won't debate that point, because the books make it clear that Vicki still has deep feelings for Mike. However, her feelings for Henry are just as strong...what Henry doesn't realize is that Vicki would die for him, too.

My favorite moment, of course, was when Henry asked, "Do you mind?" and Vicki shakes her head, then tilts it slightly; Henry leans in and bites her, and the expression on her face says it all. In spite of her feelings for Mike, she can't deny her feelings for Henry, at least to herself.

My favorite line from this episode:
"I don't need to make a sexual advance...I am one." (Henry to Vicki)
