End of The World!

Thank you Jim, wherever you are for giving me nightmares about Illithids and portraits.

This one is complicated.
The setup: End of the world is approaching with several key events that will coincide with total global collapse.
1. A huge electrical storm on the East Coast
2. A single nuclear strike on the United states
3. Two alien species attempting hostile takeover of the Earth. And it's not that they are particularly hostile towards Earth (superiority complex), it's an extreme hostility towards each other. A race and competition to claim as much of the planet before the other does.

SO, that being said...

One of the races is the Illithid. Also known as mind flayers. (If you don't know what an illithid looks like...[old school version][new super-long-creepy-tentacle type])

I'm in some catered restaurant with some others trying to escape a few particularly nasty Illithids. This is a couple of days before The End.

I manage to get some rest that night at a friend's condo apartment, but overhead are the lights of the alien ships and the boom of the lightning.

Later I'm running from them in my house in CT. I realize that I'm outside of their charm and I make a break for the woods. I'm caught and fighting back but they have these small electric stun devices.

Again later, I'm free from the mind hold because I'm suddenly surrounded by the second alien race, a much more militaristic and organized group rather than supernatural and creepy like the Illithid. They're dressed in blue military jump suits. Their heads are large and bald and their skin is a purplish gray, and their eyes are large, round, and watery blue. There's a landing pad and large military crates and there seems to be some confusion, so I dive and hide. I think I was inadvertently freed when the second race attacked the Illithid base.

The dream becomes more political and difficult to follow at this point.

So yeah. WOOT! for awesome dreams!
