Here it is day two. This year we are staying at the Hyatt Regency. It's one of the three main convention hotels. I'm so glad we did it this year. The Georgia State Highway Department decided to limit I-75 to one lane south bound through Atlanta this weekend in order to complete a bridge. They said that there would be little traffic downtown because of the holiday. Dragon*Con has only been going on for 22 years now. With 48,000 people in the downtown area for the convention, it probably wasn't the best decision. If we had stayed at our usual hotel ten minutes away, it would have taken a couple of hours each way this weekend. Traffic is a total cluster f**k.
Yesterday we got to see a panel with Jerry Doyle and Walter Koenig. They were there for Babylon five but ended up talking about almost everything else under the sun. Jerry does a talk radio show now and Walter wrote and produced his own movie last year. It's available for a pay download but he's turned it over to a distribution company for DVD release. Later in the day we went to a Stargate panel. Beau Bridges was there. He hasn't done that many conventions yet and is very amused by the whole process. He thinks its great to get direct feedback from the people he entertains. I didn't know until yesterday that he's the older brother. Jeff is younger but to my eye he looks ten years older.
This morning we went to a Torchwood panel. James Marsters was there. He had a reoccurring role last season on Torchwood. Also Gareth David-Lloyd was also on the panel. It was very amusing. Listening to two hetro men talking about there on screen snogging with Captain Jack. Very amusing.
Later we are going to see a Deep Space Nine panel, a Firefly panel and an Eureka panel. Go TEAM.
