Where to begin. I've been posting updates on Facebook but not everyone reads that so here is a summary of what's been going on with my health.
On July 13th I went in for my annual weight loss surgery check-up. Over the last twelve months I've put on 1 1/2 lbs. The doctor is not upset with that.
On July 21st I went into St. Joseph hospital for a lithotripsy. That is the procedure for breaking up kidney stones. I had a 1.5cm stone in the right kidney. For those interested that's almost regulation size for a marble.
On July 23rd I went to the doctor for a follow-up to the lithotripsy. He took an x-ray and the stone was not broken up. When he had removed the cartridge from the machine it was broken. But he was hoping that it broke at the end of the procedure. It hadn't. So I have to get another lithotripsy. He went ahead and removed the stint since there were no particles to come out.
On July 24th at 5am the 1.5cm moved. Apparently the stone was knocked loose during the procedure and tried to come out on its own. This is not possible. I was admitted to the hospital. My pain index was at maximum for about 3 hours until they got it under control. Then for the next 24hrs I had to have the maximum dose of pain killers to keep the pain in check.
On July 25th I received an emergency stint which is holding the stone at bay. The emergency surgeon told me that I needed to have the lithotripsy as soon as it could be arranged.
Today. I went to my doctor's office. He's out at the clinic this week. I have an appointment there at 3pm. Some doctors prefer to wait one week, some two weeks.
I'll post another update after I speak with the doctor later today. Until then, I'll rest and try not to think about the pain.
