Well, I just returned to work after taking the last week and a half off.

On my "mini-vacation" I helped my Mom and Dad do some repairs on thier old house. Mom and Dad are getting prepaired to sell the old house in north Texas and retire to the new house in East Central Texas.

The old house needed some work - new floor in the bathroom (old one had bad rotten spots in it) - repair / replace the ceilings in the bathroom/bedrooms/livingroom (water spots and popcorn coming down) - replace / repair the walls in the bathroom (old wallpaper coming down) - replace floor covering through out the house - paint / repair walls in the master bed room.

First up was repairing the floor in the bathroom (see pics). We took most of the floor down to the floor joists and built it back up.

(BTW the early pics were taken with my cell phone - the later pics were taken with my new Finepix S700 camera)

Then went ahead and put the new floor tile down (this is the only room that the floor got worked on before the ceilings and walls).

The next thing we ( I brought lots of help - Danny for plumbing support and Matt for floors / ceilings and general carpentery and John for general help / painting) did was to scrape and repopcorn the ceilings. This was followed by sealing (with Killz) and painting. I put up a couple of new light fixtures as well.

Dad has decided to have the living room and bed rooms refloored in carpet and has hired a company to install that. We will be putting new tile down in the kitchen / dining room - but that room is last on the repair list as it has undergone a remodel in the last 10 years.

So, thanks to Danny, Matt and John for the help (we're not done yet!) and I will attempt to blog about the rest of the repairs.

Also, thank you Mom & Dad for the new camera - it is the perfect birthday present.
