I don't think I've mentioned it here, but on day two or three of Celebration I went to the Penguin Random House Audio booth and record me reading an excerpt from Alexandra Bracken's "Star Wars: A New Hope: The Princess, The Scoundrel...blah, blah, blah." They promised delivery via email when the book came out, but the book kept getting pushed back, so I wasn't sure when or even if I'd get my edited excerpt back.
The book finally came out last Tuesday and I got my email with my excerpt on Saturday, which you can listen to
here.
I thought they were going to edit in music and sound-effects, but I guess that was too much to hope for. On the plus side, they cut out the sentences I stumbled on and re-did, but the booth wasn't entirely soundproof, which was also a little disappointing.
My verdict on the results is that it isn't great, but I think I did okay for someone who hasn't been behind a microphone in years.
