I hate to bring bad news onto this, but this time is different. Today was not a better day for me. I had planned on making good on a promise I made Anthony by moving the dirt for him with my two friends. He told me not to worry about it, and he'll just fill up the trailer with dirt for me and I can bring it back to the track and spread it out. I must say, that bothered me a little bit. Why did he want me to do the track instead of doing him a favor and shouldering some of his load? That was the first thing. It really didn't bother me until I thought about it some more, but that's beside the point. Then, the trailer was loaded up with dirt and we brought it to the back with the quad after we inflated the left tire on the trailer (it was dangerously low and getting worse with about about 500 lbs of dirt on top of it). As we were proceeding down the hill to the track, that same tire that we inflated FELL OFF of the trailer, causing it to fall on the axle, bending thar very same axle, the entire frame of the trailer, and the beam that connected to the quad. We removed all the dirt, Anthony assessed the problem, and we dragged it back to the shop for repairs. Ant fixed the tire, took some preventive measures on the other one, and banged the connector beam back into shape. I noticed that the beam (which was shaped like this symbol [ , only rotated 90 degrees to the left so that the longer section is parallel to the ground and the two walls are facing it) had rather large bends on the sides (the two little walls facing towards the ground). I knew that the bends has weakened the beams integrity, and if too much dirt was placed in the trailer, it would bend again, only much easier. So we got another load, which was reduced in size by about half, and started going to the track. As we proceeded, and about 5 feet away from where we got the load, the beam bent so far that the trailer was practically dumping itself out (think about how a load is dropped from a dump truck, and that is what the trailer looked like). So Sean and I dumped the load on top of the hill in my woods (which is nowhere near the track, mind you), bent the beam back to its original position, and took it back up. We told Ant what had happened, and I told him that I didn't think it would take a full load of manure anymore without bending (and remember that if metal bends too many times, it will eventually snap). So he told me in solemn tones that we were going to have to buy a new one. That right there bothers me, when Anthony has to spend money to buy something like that. I don't know why, but it does, and I feel real bad for him. To boot, he just came in here not a minute ago while I was typing this whole thing out and told me not to worry about the car insurance (Geico had sent me another insurance card spanning from Nov. 28 to Feb. 28, when I wanted to cancel it in Nov. and collect some cash to pay for it when I became 17 in February). He said it wasn't worth it to cancel it and then get it again so quickly. I told that I needed to do it that way because I wouldn't be able to make the expenses, to which he told me again not to worry about it. "I've been paying the insurance so far, and haven't asked you for a payment yet."
"But that's what I've been saving up for, Ant..."
"Don't worry about it. You owe me $1,000 for your bike*- save up for that instead. I'm just asking you for a favor- it may not be today or tomorrow or the next day, but you owe me one favor."
*= I had already saved up the $1,000 that I owed him for my bike and was planning to pay him at the end of the summer.
I don't like it that Anthony just shouldered a $2,600 annual car insurance payment that is mine. It bothers me that he is spending money on me, and also because it was for no real reason. In addition is this favor. My mom was in a horrible mood today, and she was nasty to me, Anthony, and Ashley all in the same token. To make an already long story short, she had a fight with Anthony, one that ended up with her in the room with the door closed, and Anthony still outside working. They had a long discussion outside, away from my sister and I, which I could only assume was about the events of the day that had passed so slowly. Afterwards, no dinner was prepared- so here I am, cursing Dominoes for not delivering (if I ever find out who that Dominoes guy is that told me they delivered here and then changed his mind.... lol) I grow as wary of the situation as I do concern. We will have to see what the next day holds in store. Also, I don't think Anthony is a bad guy or anything, but the thought has crossed my mind that him asking me for a favor instead of the insurance money is linked with the fight with my mother. Very highly improbable, and I realize that if he read this how hurt he and my mother would be that the thought even came up, and I'm sorry for that, but I could not help it. Over time I've learned to prepare myself for the worst. Anyway, Time to get back to the summer reading. Goodnight, my someone...
