It happens, thus:

First there is a story--sometimes one of my own making, and sometimes it's someone else's that I fall into. It might be a book or a movie or a television show, but in the end it doesn't matter. It takes over my imagination, sets up shop, moves in and starts working. Constantly. It's like a mini army of oompa loompas in there, all ( Read more... )

You make me love the fictional people that live in my head even more. I think you are one of the best writers I have ever read: Ever. That includes published, they-actually-make-money-on-this-shit works. I would buy anything original you published in a heartbeat. I wouldn't even have to know what it was about to know it was quality.

Also, considering how our tastes tend to be similar, I honestly can't wait to get you addicted to Doctor Who. If only so I could have some excellent fic for that fandom. (Buffy fandom has spoiled me rotten when it comes to fic)

I have realized that, as a writer, I'm horribly insecure. I worry that I'm not particularly good, I worry that people I respect don't like my work, I worry that I won't finish things that ought to be finished, or that they're just a big mess of nothing.

That sounds about par for the course. There may be writers who don't feel those things, but I suspect they're pretty rare.

The insecurity can be stressful but I think it gives us that little extra push to be better. Of course, that's not going to stop me from saying you don't have anything to feel insecure about :)
