I have decided that a 20% pay cut, a less challenging role, and the lack of chances to go further (for a minimum of 6 months, likely more) in Dell were enough reasons for me to look elsewhere. It's really hard for me to let something I could be fixing alone.
I spoke to my Aunt this morning, shortly before going in. She had a bit ofwisdom to share.
John, ask yourself what your worth is to the comapny, and be honest with yourself. Do you deserver what they are doing ? If you think it is essential and part of any job, then go to work. IF you feel like this could happen again and you don't deserve it, then you need to do what you have to get the respect you deserve. If you feel like that, and you stay for any reason, you are just allowing them to do it to you more.
So I look elsewhere now. The awesome part was the number of people who wished me well and tried to get me to stay. Perhaps Nate was right and I underrealize my worth.
