Here for work and nothing more

[This kicks off a new verse to be played out with notacargojet]

Xander had had better days. He had seen more action. But, he had assigned jobs. Assigning himself the job of protecting Nathan should he/if he/when he inevitably found out wasn't the most inspired choice. Alcohol was brought out quickly. Magic hadn't done the best job. It hadn't affected Nathan. So, when he was recognized and wrung tightly for the truth, he had had no choice but to give in, be honest, and take on his assigned job.

Three of the interns had been cleared. Dubiously named interns. But, three had gone to lunch with their new friends in politics. People placed there by Xander and now the watcher waited for word that Nathan was safe.

He is feet were dangling off the desk, Xander's eye on the door to Nate's office. They had only been cooped up there for twenty minutes but it had felt like hours.

"Just -- another few minutes," he said.
