Last weekend, we picked up a stray cat. Yes, another one. We found her in a parking lot, where she climbed all over us for attention. We tried to toss it into the hands of Fate, by telling her that if she needed a home she should stay there and we'd be back in an hour or two. Fate tossed it right back, because when we returned an hour later she hadn't moved from the spot. So really, what else could we do? We'd said....
She's now living in our laundry room. Unfortunately, she is profoundly un-keen on the idea of making friends with our resident cats. So, she's not staying. (We've already got one problem child; we just don't have the time, energy, or fortitude to deal with another.) Which is a pity, because otherwise she's a very sweet cat, and seems very well behaved. The one plus is that she doesn't seem particularly interested in outside, which makes the laundry room a lot more manageable (well, for her; we'd like to be able to do laundry....), and may make finding her a new home easier if her original people don't turn up.
We've done all the usual flyers & such, and filed info with the Humane Society and animal control for both our and the neighboring county. Also put up an
ad on Petfinder (which is a lousy website, technically speaking), for all the good that's likely to do.
Since Petfinder still hasn't fixed their image display, here's her picture:
If by some freak chance one of the five people reading this recognizes her, do comment. Or, frankly, if you fall in love at first sight and want to adopt her. We're pretty much at the end of our cat-related rope, here at Chez Knees.
Meanwhile, we're still looking for a new home for Cat3, who is an excellent cat in all respects as long as there are no other cats in the home. Just got a phone call about her off one of the many flyers we've put up. The caller's first -- and only -- question was "how much is she?", which would set off alarm bells even if the general vibe I got from him hadn't been less "this might be a good match" and more "OMG CREEPY YOU GET AWAY FROM MY CAT!!!" Fortunately(?), he had to "talk with the people I live with", so it's unlikely to be an issue.
Still, it's frustrating; she really is a very fine cat. All she needs is a loving home where she can go outside some, and not have to share with other cats. That's a little particular, but it shouldn't be this hard to find.
