Cat3 caught a rodent! Looks like your standard mouse/shrew critter. I didn't see her bring it up, but it was lying feet-up in best presentation style on one of the stepping-stones when I went to let her in. She has accepted her due of treats and extensive neck-scritching-in-a-sunbeam. Clever girl!
Incidentally, I knew she wanted to come in because LittleGuy told me. Really, he does this. He started meowing and doing the follow-me walk, and led me downstairs; she wasn't in sight of the door, but she materialized as soon as I opened it. I suspect he can hear her meowing to come in even though I can't, which is not surprising, but it is impressive that he relays it to me. Such a good boy.
(Of course, once I'd thoroughly praised Cat3 for her catch, LittleGuy got to go out and play with the mousie-corpse. This, plus the general dispensation of treats, probably explains his motivation. But he's still a good boy.)
LittleGirl is now out prowling around the pond. I suspect she wants to catch something herself, to prove that she is Still The Cleverest. Not that she needs to prove anything to me.
