Atwood is examined at A-level, so it's certainly deemedby people with beards to be well constructed.

Atwood is great. She has written 2 or 3 future fiction novels (all great), historical novels (brill), poetry (I like) but mostly "mainstream" novels about women, death, relationships, getting old. These are very fine indeed. She writes about how cruel women can be to women better than anyone else I have read.

Not sure she has a distinctive voice, it's very much in the background. An odd one to choose, not a Proulx or McCarthy, or even Hilary Mantell. Possibly underrated sly wit might suit. She is a top writer though.
