Gossip Girl Last Night

Oct 11, 2011 12:15

Was fucking fantastic. Oh my god, I haven't laughed so hard in forever. Mostly because Gossip Girl herself was saying the most incomprehensible shit - I don't even remember what it was but one of them had me literally bust out laughing (I try to avoid this because when I laugh I sound like a Disney movie villain) and go "What?!" at the screen. My mom was in the other room and she was all "What's going on?" and I was just like "Gossip Girl is nuts!" I'm not sure if she realized I was talking about the character/narrator, not the show.

But Dan and Blair are hilarious together. The "tag you're it!" scene was so perfect. No, seriously: they fight like children, date like teenagers, talk like adults, and cuddle like an old married couple. Maybe this is the shippergas I've been inhaling talking, but I believe they are the best example of staying youthful and mantaining maturity. And afterwards Dan gave his due apology. Like, I'm a Dan lover first and a Blair lover second (one and one half?), but he was being way pushy. She totally needed someone to prod her out of denial, but a prod and a hefty shove are not the same thing. Yes, Dan, you were out of line. I know you and Blair are both pregnant this season, but she's the only one dealing with the hormones that come with it. What's your excuse?

(Oh, and could Dan not hook up with his future agent? Thanks, writers.)

So, I'm the last person to be all about Chuck's SL this year because it is kind of awful, but that last scene with Monkey the dog was kind of adorable. Mostly due to Monkey's big doggy eyes. Also: loving Chivy. Really loving her. It came out of nowhere and I'm a big fan. Kaylee DeFer is a really good actress and yay for that because I think if it was anyone else I would be so blah during her scenes, but I actually feel for Ivy in a way I didn't feel for Charlie last spring.

As always, Nate is the best thing ever. He is an accidental evil genius! He wants his cougar boss to take him ~seriously~ with his "job". He thinks Dan comes by The Empire just to see him because Dan is his boyfriend, Chuck's kneepads be damned. He hides Blair and Dan's phones together because he is a secret Dair shipper (I'm reaching here, aren't I?) Never change, my love, never change.

BTW, Penn Badgely? STOP IT. You need to stop looking so goddamn hot. I want to have the credibility to have a conversation with people about how awesome "Gossip Girl" is and why I love it, and this whole thing you've got going on with the floppy hair and the stubble and sexy voice needs to go away for that to happen. My introspection is getting hung up on your whole deal. Cut it out already.
