I have heard about this rumor as to collecting all the gym badges, but I am unsure as to if this is true or not. Many seems to believe it here though...

Yes, and I have heard that these gym leaders are similar to the "bosses" in a "video game". Apparently the game ends once you beat them all.

Ah, you did say you were a hedgehog before, correct? I wasn't under the impression that hedgehogs are very fast, at least in my world.
