Day 14 - Ratings - how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you’re comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you’re writing is G-rated instead

Yeah, but there's always that general attitude when people read fics, like how much of the author are we seeing. I know I'm guilty of doing some of that to others (mostly the really bad ones) and am conscious of where my personality overlaps with my characters. Given how opposite my NC-17s are to me (the second more than the first) I don't think I want people looking at me that way.
I get what you're saying. Sometimes it's obvious the author is writing up personal stuff or fantasies to the point where you kind of want a shower after reading it and it feels awkward. Usually when it involves an obvious Mary Sue getting it on with the author's favorite character. It's like... no... didn't need to read your detailed fantasy of that, author.
Way back in the day, Knave wrote a fic where he had Knave and Alluro hook up through a spell (the fic mentioned in his entry). Coldy warned him, "If you post this, people are gonna think you're gay," while I was saying, "No way. People in this fandom aren't that stupid. I RP sex stuff with people like Demonprist all the time and no one seriously thinks we're lesbians."
Unfortunately after Knave posted it, almost right away TW went to him and said, "Dude are you gay?"
I stood corrected. The Thundercats fandom was that stupid, or at least some of its members were.
lol well it was TW after-all...not the brightest bulb in the bunch. There's always someone, I guess, thinking you're writing your life into fics. Amusing.
I don't recall specifically Kith warning me, though it wouldn't surprise me at all. It taught me to be a lot more careful with what I did with Knave. I also remember Tay at the Florida trip saying something like "I thought I was going to hate you, because I hate Knave so much." It's like... Thanks?
Oh yeah. That was another WTF moment. Who says that to someone they just met? Not to mention the sheer idiocy of assuming everyone is just like their characters. But then, he was a lot like his smart-mouthed child characters, so maybe it was only natural for him to think that's how everyone was.
