Recovering Runner

Mar 11, 2003 23:52

I'm down a total of about 15lbs from where I started. Not too bad considering I have been pretty damn lenient about what I eat. I have finally started running regularly. I'm up to 3 miles. I hope I can comfortably run a 28 min 5K (Yes, I know that time sucks, but at 230lbs, the guy who catches me probably will not be the one who can hold me down) in a couple of weeks. My old routine was 4.2 miles in about 39 minutes 3 days a week. I would be really happy if I was back in that routine with a long run on the weekend.

My brain chemistry is really screwed up. The running causes me to gush Serotonin and the Paxil prevents my brain from reabsorbing it. Better that scenario than the opposite.

My legs and butt ache from running today but I feel great. Today was the first day that I knew that I had really started back running. I feel like I use to feel when I played football....wild and free.

The next side effect, if I recall correctly, is a Testosterone rush generated by the tearing and building of the leg muscles. That means that I will be incredibly irritable and horny the next couple of weeks.

I'm buring a new candle tonight: Sandlewood. I like it.
