Two weeks ago we had a nice big fighter's practice, with visitors from out of town to fill out our ranks. 22 people in total, with 15 in armor - Abelard, Magnus, Leone, Tristen, Karl, Randall, Sir Kaydian, Sir Thomas, Sir Valerius, Ambrose, Gabrielle, Hamish, Nissan, Dru, Akira - and nine out of armor: Theresa, Dahrien, Alexander, DJ, Mrs. DJ and their two daughters. This past week was a little smaller, with eight in armor: me, Magnus, Akira, Jean, Karl, Rhys, Valerius, and Thomas (aka Tommy, not the same guy as Sir Thomas). And I have it in my head that Hamish put on armor too, but I might be misremembering that. And we had people not in armor, such as Eva, Leone, and Adeliz. This week is Gulf Wars, so theoretically we'll have fewer people. Over the course of the last week (marking time between practices as a week) I rebuilt a sword, then rebuilt it again, and it looks like it's not quite done yet; I also swapped out the thrusting tip on the matching sword. (See, I carry four swords for practice - two long and two short, with a steel basket hilt on one of each length and a plastic basket hilt on the other; I fight differently with a long vs short sword, and as I get tired I switch to the lighter one. I built a new steel hilt long sword and replaced the thrusting tip on the plastic hilt long sword, so now I can fight at range...)
Laura and I spent a lot of time this past weekend on the computer, and I also squeezed in errands and chores and finishing a couple books and some other things. It was a relaxing weekend, really, though my eyes are paying the penalty for so much screen time.
This week is probably a good time for me to catch up on some projects at Hamish's house. And tomorrow I'm taking the car to the shop for general maintenance and to knock out whatever's rattling under the hood. And that's about it for plans.
Oh, I'm also working with Hamish on the Border Skirmish scenarios. Which should be a blast. And Rio closes on Sunday the 16th, and everybody should go see it.
